DJI Inspire 1 Review

Sailun Tires

The DJI Inspire 1 is one of the most popular, top of the line drones for sale today. All it needs is a couple of lasers and this drone looks like it jumped right out of the terminator movies and into our laps. However, don’t let its looks and size fool you, the DJI Inspire 1 delivers, in more ways than one!

DJI Inspire 1 Review: The Good
While many people might be worried about the size, it handles extremely well, even in heavy wind conditions. It also has a top of the line camera, offering 4k resolution that comes with a twist… literally. Unlike other drones, whose camera units are nearly impossible to remove, repair or replace; the DJI Inspire 1’s camera unlocks and removes in seconds to allow for safer transportation. The camera also offers 125 degrees of tilt and 360 degrees of rotation, eliminating the need to reposition the drone to take high quality video and images. The ease at which the camera can be removed also leads us to believe that upgrading the camera on your drone in the future is a real possibility.

The body design on the drone are like non other. The prop arms rest in a lowered position when the Inspire is on the ground, acting as landing gear and lowering the center of gravity for easy landing. Once in the air, the props are retracted to give the camera unobstructed views across 360-degrees. The frame of the drone is a carbon fiber construction because of its high strength carbon fiber offers to weight ratio.

DJI Inspire 1 Review: The Bad
Nothing is perfect and the DJI Inspire 1 has its flaws, as well. The battery life is relatively low, so if you are looking to do any type of extending operation, you’re going to have to purchase additional batteries. This is going to bring the price up from about $3,000 to roughly $3,400. The drone’s android capabilities are also very limited. It is also missing DJI’s Intelligent Flight functions, Follow Me and autonomous waypoint navigation, the many of the new DJI drones are now coming with. DJI is hoping that the higher quality 4K camera will make up for these flaws. The Inspire 1 is more marketed for the advanced drone user.

The DJI Inspire 1 comes with a heavy price tag, and while it is missing some of the primary features provided in other drones by DJI, the Inspire 1 still delivers for the money. The biggest selling point, in our opinion, is the camera set and design, as well as the potential of creating upgrades to further enhance the capabilities of the drone.
