New York is one of the world’s greatest cities and no city in the world is quite like it. The history, grandiosity, and most of all, the people of New York are what make the city what it is. It is also one of the only cities in the world where something is happening at any time of the day or night. New York is a hectic city, however, and truly embodies the term “urban jungle”. It’s an unpredictable city that can be difficult to navigate and intimidating. But, once you know the basics of getting from A to B and some of the things you need to avoid, then you should enjoy your trip to the city. Let’s take a look at a few tips for planning an NYC weekend break.

Plan How You’re Going to Get Around

Before you go to the city, you need to know exactly where you’ll be staying so you can start planning some itineraries. Plan for whole days too. The more you plan your days and the earlier you start planning logistics, the more comfortable you’ll be once you get to the city. There’s a strong chance that you’re going to rely mainly on public transit if you’re going to be close to the city center, so start planning routes on Google Maps. We also suggest that you install the Transit app. It will give you access to detailed maps of the bus and subway system and allow you to create itineraries that will be easy to follow.

You can always take an Uber or a cab which are rather affordable in New York, but the traffic is so horrendous in the city that it wouldn’t be advantageous for you. That is, unless you’re staying in one of the outer boroughs and want to do things there or have them bring you to a subway station close to the city center.

Start Planning Ways to Pass the Time

Speaking of traffic and transit, we suggest that you find ways for you to pass the time as you’re going to spend a lot of time stuck in it. Public transit can also get stressful from time to time and if you’re going to New York by bus or by car as a passenger, you might get bored on your way to and from the city

One of the best ways to pass the time during those times would be to play games, so we suggest that you download a few games on your mobile before you go. If you’re a big fan of sports betting, then you could check out some of the online sportsbooks that are allowed in the state. You could bet on some of the events going on in the city and even attend some of them to make things more interesting. If you’re looking for a great list of online sportsbooks that cater to people in the city, you’ll find loads of information here.

Have a List of Musts and Always Have a Backup Plan

A lifetime is not enough to see everything in the city, so you won’t get to see much of the city in two days. The logistics just won’t let you do it. Most major attractions have huge demand, and you will have to wait to get in. There are also cases where you won’t be able to see attractions because there are too many people.

There are so many better things to do than going to see the Statue of Liberty in New York, so we suggest you scratch it off your list. A much smarter move would be to take one of the ferries that pass by so you can see it up close and move to more interesting attractions.

We also suggest that you have at least one or two attractions outside of Manhattan. The other boroughs have so many things to offer, and you have to get a taste of them if you want to know what New York is really about. Some of the places you could consider include the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park.

Consider Booking a Guided Tour

A lot of people don’t like the idea of going on guided tours, but if there’s one place in the world where you should do it, it’s in NYC. Not only will you get access to certain locations, but tour companies often get great deals so you might be able to save money not only on attractions but on food and beverages too. You don’t have to go on a guided tour on both days. You could go on a tour on the first day and do whatever you want in the evening and the next day. This will allow you to see multiple attractions in as little time as possible.

These few tips should help you get the most out of your New York City trip. Make sure that you have a solid plan before you go and don’t be afraid to think outside the box when it comes to attractions.
