Cigarette Smoke Detectors Can Detect Weed

Sailun Tires

Watch out, cannabis smokers. There’s a new sheriff in town. Well, maybe not new, but certainly upgraded. Its name is a smoke detector. The latest members of the smoke detectors family can detect not only that you’re smoking but also what you’re smoking.

That can be a massive problem for people who like to smoke before going to bed, and not every hotel room has a terrace. That’s why, before you find weed delivery via 420DC, make sure that you have some space to smoke safely and quietly.

And meanwhile, sit back and find out more about new cigarette smoke detectors that can detect weed.

How Does It Work?

But how can it detect if you’re smoking marijuana? The question is not as complicated as you may think. These types of detectors use chemically sensitive polymer films to recognize and then measure and record nicotine vapor molecules from secondhand and thirdhand smoke.

The inventor of such a device called AirGuard, professor Joseph J. BelBruno, explained that the detector has two sensors. One is for nicotine in tobacco smoke, and the other identifies a specific chemical that is present in marijuana.

Moreover, the device can quickly notify hotel owners, landlords, or Airbnb hosts that you’re smoking. All thanks to the fact that you can connect AirGuard to your phone or another device via Android.

AirGuar will even be able to contact the authorities that you’re smoking weed. So, if you’re going on a trip to the state where marijuana is prohibited, it would be better not to smoke in a hotel or other place you’re staying in.

Also, keep in mind that the device is not going to ring or make any sound whatsoever to warn you. It will send the message that you smoke in a prohibited area immediately to the owner or a person who runs the building.

Is It Possible to Deceive the Device?

Okay, but what if you really have to smoke? Is it possible to somehow deceive AirGuard and smoke in your hotel room? Unfortunately for you, the answer is negative. The device is too sensitive.

What’s more, as mentioned before, it doesn’t just detect firsthand smoke that you exhale during smoking. It can detect even secondhand and thirdhand smoke. That means that AirGuard can catch the traces of smoke left in a carpet, furniture, or even clothing.

Moreover, the device can come in a size that fits in the palm of your hand. Therefore, it’s easy to hide, and you may not even know that the device is in your room. Don’t do anything stupid, because the next thing you may hear is the police knocking at your room door.

What About Vaping?

So, you know that traditional smoking is not an option when you’re in a hotel room. But what about vaping? Can AirGuard detect e-cigarette or vaporizers? This time the answer is positive.

In the interview before the AirGuard launch, professor BelBruno stated that the device couldn’t detect vaping. Even though the small amount of nicotine is still in e-cigarette smoke, it’s not enough for the AirGuard to identify it.

What does that mean to cannabis lovers? The same thing as for cigarette smokers. You can vape in your hotel room without fear. Of course, you have to take some precautions.

For example, don’t smoke directly beneath or exhale onto the device. AirGuard can still detect the smoke and alarm the owner without you even knowing if you do such a thing in a close range.

Also, keep in mind that it’s not just hotels or Airbnb apartments that use these kinds of detectors. You can find AirGuard in shopping malls, restaurants, and even in office buildings. So if you like to smoke a joint, you’d better do it outside. Better to be safe than sorry.

Summary

If you like to smoke weed inside your house, you should know that you won’t be able to do such a thing while being on vacation or a business trip. The newest smoke detectors can not only sense cigarette smoke but marijuana as well.

They can even contact the authorities and building owners without you even knowing. Moreover, the device like AirGuard can also detect the smoke scent left on your clothes, so you have to be extremely careful in states where marijuana is prohibited.

Fortunately, there’s a way if you’re in a desperate need for marijuana. You can vape. AirGuard can’t detect it unless you exhale smoke directly into the device. And let’s be honest, nobody does that.
