In the world of design and architecture, one Toronto native walks like a god among men. Antonio Tadrissi, Creative Director and Founder of brand Dust of Gods, clearly has swagger.
Whether you know his name or not it’s hard to have missed his influential work over the years. The former molecular biologist seems to approach architecture and design from that scientific background of observation, forming creative theory and displaying innovative results.
“At the heart of my studio is a profound commitment to finding innovative design solutions,
with a dedication to artistic thinking and uncovering the potential of materials and craftsmanship.” Says Tadrissi of how his design firm Prototype Design Lab (PDL) approaches they vast projects they undertake.
Projects like Intercontinental Hotel Shunde, China, Wanda Department Store, Toy Room,London, Rome, Sau Paulo, and a number of creations for Toronto’s own Drake.
“PD Lab specializes in creating a space in its entirety. We are a full-service design firm and are responsible for every step of the project so the client must align with this service. Beyond the logistics behind a project, most of my clients have a global presence. The client and I must both resonate with the cause behind the space.”
It’s this visionary mindset that led to the creation of his Dust of Gods fashion line, which has a pop at Bayview Village Mall Feb 8 -21st.” We chose Bayview Village for our pop-up because of the clientele. Visitors to Bayview village are typically fashion-forward individuals with a keen sense of style and of trends in the fashion industry.”
This ‘haute’ exclusive pop-up offers Bayview Village Mall shoppers the opportunity to get their hands on a highly covetable and sustainable luxe piece. “I want Dust of Gods to inspire accountability and creativity in people regarding their fashion choices. Sustainability and luxury are not isolated concepts: they can and should coexist. I’ve tried to embody this idea in Dust of Gods, and I hope that others will follow” responded when asked what he wanted the cultural impact of his brand to be.
In a world now where we consume and dispose of things so quickly it’s rare to find a brand laser-focused on sustainability and repurposing over getting the next new, quickly replaced item. The idea of history, knowledge, and perseverance permeates what this innovator does and it is a great lead by example approach by this visionary.
“My legacy is the impact my work has on people.
I hope that Dust of Gods will propel positive action toward creativity and sustainability for years to come”
Says Tedrassi of his legacy, that’s already being cemented by his actions.
