Yup. You read that right, and if you are like me, your reaction is the following:
It’s no secret that Netflix is a great place to find shows and movies. With thousands of titles available on the streaming site and a continually growing must-see list, it is undeniably one of the internet’s greatest gifts to this generation. Whether you’re looking for a creepy thriller or a romantic comedy, Netflix will give you a good reason to spend your weekend bingeing on the couch.
Well, here’s a little surprise: If you want something that’s not available on the Netflix library yet, you can ask them to add it to their collection. There’s a page on their website called “Request TV shows or movies” which allows users to suggest up to three titles.
The page has actually been around for a while but not many of us have noticed it because it’s hidden quite well in the site’s Help section. (Should have been on the Netflix login page if you ask me)
More users learned about the Request Page after a fan asked Netflix to include a show he likes via Twitter. User @imnotduddan asked for the Chelsea Peretti comedy special “One of the Greats” to be available in the Netflix Philippines library. As you probably know by now, some shows are available in some territories and not in others.
Netflix Philippines replied with a playful phrase, “You know the drill” along with the link to the Request Page.
Well clearly, not everyone knows the drill.
Peretti herself took note of the exchange and replied, “LITERALLY NO ONE KNOWS THAT DRILL.” Yes, in all caps.
Looks like she’s right! Her Tweet was re-shared thousands of times. There’s even a thread on Reddit where people shared some of the shows they want to request.
According to the Reddit thread, some of the most popular requests are Spongebob Squarepants, Studio Ghibli Movies, Drake And Josh, and Everybody Loves Raymond, among other things. There were also requests to bring back shows which were already removed from the library.
Getting ready to make your suggestion? Here are some things to keep in mind.
First, no need to submit your suggestions more than once (won’t be surprised if people do this though). According to the site, they “keep track of all requests from our members, so there’s no need to request a title more than once.”
Also, there is no guarantee that you’ll get what you want. It’s unlikely for Netflix to add a show based on the request of a single person. But you can always try, right? It’s a fun, stress-free, and convenient way to let your voice be heard anyway! Once you already know the shows you want to request, the whole process won’t take more than a couple of minutes.
What shows or movies will you include in your request? Let us know!
