The American Icon Awards gala has become one of the most celebrated events of award season
Founded in 2014, it honours excellence in leadership in business, entertainment, sports and education. The event is set to hono ur Hollywood legend Al Pacino with the American Icon Award, 27-time GRAMMY winning producer, Quincy Jones will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, and WBA, WBC, and IBF winning pugilist , Evander Holyfield is the recipient of the American Sports Legend Award. Additional recognition to humanitarians Jonathan D. Fisher and Christine Avanti-Fisher and the sports philanthropy award going to NFL veteran, Devon Still will be part of the gala.
Pacino, with 45 movies under his belt since 1971, is no stranger to awards, winning the Oscar for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for “Scent of a Woman” with an additional 7 nominations, two EMMYs and a Tony Award. With 60 years in music, Quincy Jones’ has done it all from being a composer, record producer, artist, film producer, arranger, conductor, instrumentalist, TV producer, record company executive, to magazine founder, multimedia entrepreneur and finally, humanitarian. Holyfield is the only four-time world heavyweight champion, having held the unified WBA, WBC, and IBF titles and was even an Olympic Torch Bearer. The event is chaired by icon Hollywood Director, Martin Scorsese and Larry King.
The gala is not just an opportunity to mix and mingle with show business and the financial elite, it is also a philanthropic affair, benefiting organizations such as St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, Autism Movement Therapy, and Ignited. It will be held on May 19, in Los Angeles at the legendary Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
