Huse Culinary, the masterminds behind the legendary St. Elmo Steak House, have unveiled their latest destination—a sophisticated cocktail lounge and restaurant that promises to be the centerpiece of any trip to Indianapolis.
From the moment you step inside, the ambiance envelops you in a nostalgic embrace of 1930s glamour. The décor is a masterclass in blending vintage charm with modern luxury. Every detail has been meticulously curated, from the ornate plaster ceiling to the bold hues and dramatic textures that define the 8,200-square-foot space. The piece-de-resistance? A breathtaking gold dome over the bar, adorned with a custom concentric light fixture that casts a warm glow over blackened steel and antique brass accents. Whether you’re lounging by the double-sided fireplace or sinking into plush banquettes patterned with leopards, every corner whispers sophistication.
The culinary experience is equally captivating. Under the expert guidance of Jason Chesky, formerly the executive chef at Harry & Izzy’s Northside, the menu delivers refined classics with an upscale twist. During a media preview on March 28, I had the pleasure of sampling some of their standout dishes—and they went above and beyond.
The spinach and artichoke dip was a revelation, with perfectly melted cheese crowning tender spinach for a harmonious bite. The seafood tower was a visual masterpiece and tasted just as exquisite, while the poke offered a burst of freshness that lingered on the palate. For cocktail enthusiasts, the Elmo Cola is a must-try—a vanilla whiskey concoction served on the side for customizable sweetness. Its versatility makes it an ideal drink for any season.
Dessert lovers will swoon over the chocolate mousse pie. The espresso undertones paired beautifully with crumbled toffee and a cookie base, creating a symphony of flavors that was as delightful to look at as it was to eat. Garnished with mint leaves and cherry syrup, it’s a dessert that demands your attention.
The beef sliders were another highlight—succulent, tender, and seasoned to addiction.
With seating for 200 indoors and an additional 70 on its covered patio overlooking Rangeline Road, 1933 Lounge Carmel offers versatile spaces for every occasion. Eight private and semi-private dining areas accommodate groups ranging from seven to 58 guests, while features like live-edge wood tables and ample natural light add warmth and elegance. The sunroom transforms into an event space with operable windows, while the patio boasts fire pits, heated floors, overhead heating, and fans for year-round comfort.
Welcoming guests aged 21 and older for lunch and dinner service, this new addition to Carmel’s dining scene is culinary and visual fireworks.
