Sports have always been incredibly popular worldwide.

While many try and participate in their favorite games and activities, TV has given fans another way in which they can enjoy them.

Viewing sports has become the preferred option for many, with around 67% of the globe said to consume sporting entertainment on a regular basis. Netflix has looked to capitalize on this growth by offering some of the best sports related streaming content available. Some will watch programs based on their favorite activities, while others will look to combine it with other forms of entertainment. For instance, it’s possible to find many playing video games based on their preferred sports, with others even enhancing the viewing experiences of live events by engaging in a spot of sport betting, adding excitement and entertainment to what is happening.

It’s no surprise that TV entertainment has surpassed many of the ways in which sports are consumed. Broadcasters show live events in our homes, while on-demand platforms now provide unrestricted access, with some often going behind-the-scenes.

Netflix is one example of a streaming service that has managed to achieve this, releasing several sports-themed shows across its platform that have enjoyed huge success. But what are some of the best to watch right now?

Last Chance U

Inspired by HBO’s successful Hard Knocks, Last Chance U is based on what happens at the college football level. This level of the game is huge across America, as it is the precursor for those hopefuls of getting selected by an NFL team and living out one of the biggest dreams of many across the US.

Formula 1: Drive to Survive

While some sports already have a significant popularity level, there have been some shows that have helped it to rocket even further following its release. Formula 1: Drive to Survive is one prime example, as F1 audiences have increased significantly since the first docuseries was released in 2019. The docuseries showcase life on and away from the F1 grid, as it follows teams and the individuals that make the teams closely, exploring their daily lives and what they do professionally to ensure they can be the best.

Quarterback

Based on the NFL’s premier position, Quarterback, gave viewers the opportunity to follow three of the league’s best and witness what they do to prepare for games, how they train, and what their daily lives are like. The first season centered on Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota as they tackled the 2022 NFL season; a year in which Mahomes win Super Bowl LVII and was crowned the MVP.

Tour de France: Unchained

Tour de France is a global event, but it’s perhaps not one of the most popular or as widely watched as other sporting events that take place on annual basis. Everyone knows that it is a grueling journey in which the world’s best cyclists compete, but Tour de France: Unchained helped showcase just how much effort teams and individuals go through as they look to try and win as many stages as possible over three weeks and have the famous yellow jersey.
