When we first went into lockdown in March 2020, few of us could have imagined how life would change – or that it would last this long!
Time moved strangely, we became very well acquainted with the four walls of our home offices (along with the strategically placed items on our colleagues bookcase backgrounds!), and terms such as ‘WFH’ and ‘social distancing’ were added to the Oxford English Dictionary.
If you’ve started to feel stuck in a rut during these strange times, here are three ways you can start to live your life to the fullest now that world is beginning to reopen:
1. Take Up a New Hobby
Consider investing in the ‘life’ portion of your work/life balance. Whether it be taking up a new hobby, or restarting an old one, this is a great way for you to inject some variety in the stagnant day-to-day.
Are you an active person? You might discover a hidden love for rock climbing!
Or if you’re more creatively inclined, why not purchase some paints and canvases?
Passion for learning? Channel that energy and take up a new language in your free time.
2021 is the perfect year to try something that you have always wanted to do but never felt that you had the time for.
2. Develop Your Career
It might seem strange to think of 2021 as a prime time to change up your career – after all, so much has already changed with our lives and COVID-19 has caused huge disruption to workforces all over the world.
But if this time of uncertainty has caused you to reassess your priorities, now may just be the perfect time! With increased flexibility in the workplace and flexible study options from online providers such as ARU Distance Learning, workers have more opportunities than ever before to boost their skills and transform their careers.
Whether you’re a teacher looking to develop your understanding of educational practice, or a civil engineer seeking a management role, 2021 could be the perfect time for you to take the next step in your career.
3. Travel the World
Holidaying abroad was, for the most part, a no-go in 2020. Many of us watched sadly as holiday after holiday was cancelled, and for the adventurers among us, this was a particularly hard blow.
No one knows what the future holds, but hopefully, the worst of the pandemic’s restrictions are now behind us, and the world will once more be open to foreign travel. If this is the case, then 2021 could be the year to tick some of those must-see travel destinations off your bucket list.
Whether you fancy a long weekend in Italy or a few weeks travelling around New Zealand in a motorhome, 2021 should be the year to take the leap and see the world… or at least, start making plans to. After all, planning a holiday is part of the fun!
These are just three ways that you can make improvements to your life, dust off the disappointment of 2020, and start to live your life to the fullest!
