How to Maintain That Perfect Smile

Sailun Tires

You have probably heard already that a nice, sincere smile can open all doors for you. Although some people consider it superficial, psychologists remind that one should never undermine the power of a broad, genuine smile. Apart from making you more approachable, a smiling face sends a powerful message to your brain and body that everything is all right, and that everyday stress has nothing on you. When it comes to attractiveness, basically everyone agrees that there is nothing sexier than a great smile. If you are not born with perfect teeth, today there are ways to improve them with a little time and money investment.

Hygiene

Before you complain about the way your teeth look, let’s just see if there are things that you are doing wrong when it comes to your daily routine. If you brush your teeth at least two times a day and use dental floss at least once per day, maybe you’re not doing it correctly. The orthodontists say that the right way to brush your teeth has a lot to do with holding your toothbrush; you should hold it under the angle of 45 degrees, and make gentle up-and-down and back-and-forth movements.

You should also pay attention to the quality of your toothbrush. If you are not sure which one to choose, you should go with the more expensive, soft one, in order to avoid tooth enamel erosion and bleeding gums. Also, when brushing your teeth, don’t forget the tongue! After every meal, bacteria remain on your tongue as well—and if you don’t brush them off, they can also harm your teeth and gums, and cause bad breath.

After brushing and flossing, you should also use mouthwash. Specialists say that the best mouthwash is the one containing chlorine dioxide, as it kills bacteria. If your lifestyle requires being away from home a lot, you can get yourself several kits containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss picks, a small bottle of mouthwash, and place one in your car, one in your office—leaving one at home of course.  Although a lot of “macho” men might complain, a lip balm is a very useful addition to everyone’s kit; it will help you avoid lip cracking and make your lips smooth at all times.

Professional help

If you practice your daily hygiene routine well and still feel insecure about your teeth, maybe you should see your dentist. Whether you are in need of teeth whitening, cleaning, providing sealants for possible chipped or broken teeth or you want your teeth straightened by getting dental veneers, there are numerous solutions nowadays that professionals can give you. If you don’t want visible braces, you can check out Invisalign at Bondi Junction and make your own personalized dental plan.

Although some cosmetic dentistry services may seem a bit on the pricey side, it’s always worth it to invest in one’s physical and mental health, and seeing your dentist regularly is important to both. Not taking care of your teeth properly, can have serious health consequences, such as diabetes, heart disease, as well as numerous infections. Even if the worst consequences of your bad teeth are bad breath and low self- esteem, you should take it seriously as that influences your mental health. Nowadays, however, you can save money when it comes to teeth whitening, as there are numerous products on the market which you can use at home and achieve great effects. So, no matter if you need an intervention or not, you shouldn’t forget your regular dental check-ups, at least twice a year.

Diet

As you have probably heard already, there are foods that we should avoid if we want to protect our teeth. However, few people are aware that there are more serious consequences then just the aesthetics due to the overconsumption of coffee, tea, alcoholic drinks, sodas and tobacco can have on our teeth. The fact is that they all contain a high level of phosphorus which, in high doses, causes calcium depletion in our bones, which can further lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Not to mention that red wine, coffee and tobacco stain teeth and cause bad breath.

Confidence

Last but not least, it is familiar that a great smile can boost your confidence. If you are not among the lucky ones who were born confident, the good news is that confidence can be practiced and mastered. Psychologists advise starting to practice a broad smile in front of the mirror first. Also, while smiling, try to include the muscles around your eyes. To do so, you can try imagining funny things in your head. Apart from that, thinking about your qualities also helps. If you are not sure what your qualities are, think about the person you would like to become and try smiling like him. So, fake it until you make it is a good policy when it comes to confidence. When you are ready, come out and spread that smile around, the results might surprise you!

As you can see the list of reasons why you should invest your money and time in your teeth is pretty huge. So, don’t wait for Monday, next month or next year and start today. You will be surprised at the way your love and social life improve, and maybe the improvement can become visible in your bank account as well.
