We are well into the new year, and if you’re like most people, you’ve probably made some health and wellness resolutions for the new year. But if you’re also like most people, you may have had a bit of a hard time getting those resolutions started.
Everything from cold weather to gyms being closed, you’ve made all kinds of excuses as to why you haven’t started… But that ends today.
Today, we’re going to look at some helpful tips to get you off of the couch and start reaching your health and wellness goals.
Painless Ways to Reach Your 2021 Health and Wellness Resolutions
Choose a Day to Meal Prep
One of the biggest distractions that cause people to stray away from their wellness goals is food. They either don’t like to cook, don’t know how to cook, or don’t feel like cooking… Whichever your excuse is, it will be put to rest.
By choosing a day to meal prep, you’re giving yourself ample time to plan your meals for the week, prepare them, and cook them. Not knowing how to cook is no longer an excuse because there are countless videos and tutorials on all kinds of meals with step by step instructions on how to prepare them.
If you work Monday through Friday, let Sundays be your meal prep day. That will be the day you go to the grocery store to get the food and supplies you need; you may even want to grab a few kitchen gadgets like a veggie slicer or soup maker to make your meal prep effortless… You’ll feel so good when the workweek comes and you have a week’s worth of food already prepared to eat!
Start a Juice Cleanse
For some people, the best way to kick health and wellness into gear, especially when weight loss is the goal, is to attack it head-on, and the best way to do this is to start a juice cleanse. Some people like to go on juice cleanses for a few weeks to detox their bodies, and it certainly will do just that.
Juice cleanses are actually one of the best ways to jumpstart weight loss fast and then slowly start incorporating solid foods back into your diet. Just make sure that when going on a juice cleanse, whether it’s for three days or a few weeks, that it’s cold-pressed juices. Once you start back on solid foods, you can still drink your cold-pressed juices as added nutrients to your meals or as meal replacements.
Start Incorporating More Physical Activity in Your Daily Routine
Fitness isn’t a race but more so a marathon. So you can’t expect yourself to hop on a treadmill and run 3 miles in 30 minutes… You have to pace yourself, and pacing yourself starts with simply getting more physically active in your daily routine first.
If you commute to work, take the stairs or park in the back of the parking lot. If you work from home, take a brisk walk around your neighborhood or get up and walk around every hour or so just so you won’t be sitting all day.
There are many things you can do to get more physically active that don’t involve joining a gym. If you’re looking to exercise at home, hopping on YouTube is a great start; If you have a Roku or Roku TV, there are free fitness apps you can download. Also, if you live in an apartment complex, most have fitness centers that are free for residents, so that’s a resource you can take full advantage of as well.
These are just a few simple ways to get your 2021 health and wellness resolutions started if you were having a bit of a hard time. Just remember, this is your journey, so you can go at your own pace. The important part is to simply get started.
