Easy Ways to Be Healthier

You really don’t need to deprive yourself or spend an eternity working out in an effort to remain free from disease and be as healthy as you can possibly be. Instead, here’s a peek at a few simple tips that can help.

Be Clean

If you started using any alcohol and/or drugs as a teen and didn’t go for teen treatment in Santa Barbara or wherever you live, now’s your chance to get clean and work wonders for your health and well-being. It may be alright to go out and have a drink or two with the guys after a long, hard week, but when you make a habit of it, you could damage your health, your relationships, and your life.

Protein

You might not need to stress a lot when it comes to cutting calories. It doesn’t matter whether you’re attempting to gain weight or simply maintain the weight you’re at, adding a bit of protein can help. Swap out things like granola and berries with cottage cheese and berries. Try 1 ¼ cup of vegetarian baked beans as opposed to 1 ¼ mashed potatoes. You’ll feel full for longer.

Sleep

Is there ever a time when you need a great excuse to grab your jammies and head to bed? Skimping on sleep can do more than just make you unproductive and cranky. It can also give you more of a chance of a heart attack! Insomnia may trigger the body to release a bit more of a hormone related to stress called cortisol. Levels of this hormone that are too high are related to things like diabetes and high blood pressure, which are both related to cardiovascular disease.

Vitamin D

Have you had your daily dose of Vitamin D? Not having enough of this essential vitamin can lead to a lot of health issues – and the worst part is that so many of us are deficient when it comes to this vitamin. Vitamin D is a health booster that’s quite powerful. In fact, if you’re not deficient in it, you lower your risk of being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes! The essential nutrient has anti-inflammatory properties that offer a bit of protection against the condition.

Antioxidants

The pawpaw is the largest fruit that’s both native to North America and edible. It can grow nearly anywhere, but it tends to do well in the Midwest and Northeast. The fruit is typically ripe around August until the middle of October. This fruit may well be deemed the next superfood. When compared to things like oranges, apples, and bananas, the pawpaw has as much as 20 times the magnesium, 10 times the calcium, and as much as 70 times the iron! They’re also so full of antioxidants that they even rival cherries and cranberries!

Exercise

Music can be fuel for your workout. This is true regardless of whether you’re power walking, doing yoga, or lifting weights. In fact, if you listen to pop or rock music that’s energizing or upbeat, you might tend to find that your workouts last about 15% longer without you consciously realizing it!

Remaining healthy can tend to feel so much like work – think whipping up highly nutritious meals or spending hours and hours at the gym. That being said, there are quite a few smaller moves that you might make when it comes to everyday living that can result in massive benefits for your health.
