Montblanc Launches New Collection with UNICEF at Star-Studded Event in NYC

Montblanc has been collaborating with UNICEF over the past 13 years, raising over $10 million dollars that have benefitted education programmes around the world. The new launch of the Montblanc for UNICEF collection of limited edition writing instruments, timepieces, accessories and leather goods is the latest chapter in their partnership that has helped thousands of children find their way to a quality education, and a brighter future.

In NYC on Monday, April 3rd 2017, Montblanc reaffirmed its commitment to child literacy and education with the launch of its new limited edition collection of writing instruments, timepieces, leather goods and accessories, supporting UNICEF’s work to help the many children who are still denied access to quality education. Designed around the idea that writing is a precious gift that should be passed on, the Montblanc for UNICEF collection was unveiled at an event held at the New York Public Library in New York City, one of the most iconic libraries in the world and a centre for learning and sharing of ideas for over a century.

Writing Instruments

The partnership that began in 2004, Montblanc now introduced a new collection of writing instruments: Montblanc Meisterstück, Writing is a Gift.

Among the pieces in the collection, the Meisterstück, Writing is a Gift Edition is an original twist on Montblanc’s iconic writing instrument with its alphabet-inspired design to celebrate the preciousness of writing as a force for good, and a blue sapphire to celebrate the bond between Montblanc and UNICEF.

Leather Goods

Contemporary large and smaller leather goods feature blue lining with the first characters of six different languages learned by children all over the world.

Time Pieces

Two editions of the Heritage Spirit Orbis Terrarum Timepieces in support of UNICEF pair a manufacture worldtime complication developed by Montblanc master watchmakers with symbolic references to UNICEF.

Accessories

One of the highlights of the men’s jewellery collection, a pair of reversible cufflinks in a rectangular shape allows the wearer to switch between sophisticated and sleek black onyx on one side, and engraved steel on the other. Mirroring the design theme of the Montblanc Meisterstück, Writing is a Gift collection, the steel is etched with six handwritten characters representing the first letters of six world alphabets learned by children.

Star-Studded Event

In each of the display areas at the launch event, Montblanc highlighted the craftsmanship tied to the collection with demonstrations by its skilled artisans. Around the exhibition space, calligraphed letters and words created a décor underscored the diversity of world languages. Following the introduction of the collection, guests were invited for an intimate dinner inside Gottesman hall.

Guests including Brand Ambassadors Hugh Jackman and Charlotte Casiraghi, actor Rami Malek, Socialite and Blogger couple Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl, digital entrepreneur Miroslava Duma, models Elsa Hosk and Touriya Haoud, actresses Diane Kruger, Aissa Maiga and Carly Chaikin and UNICEF ambassador Gigi Leung joined Montblanc CEO Nicolas Baretzki and UNICEF’s Chief of Education, Programme Division Jo Bourne to discover the pieces and show support for an initiative that help improve learning for over 5 million children through quality learning materials and better teaching. Inside the grand halls of the New York cultural landmark, Montblanc brought to life the importance of writing, its universal nature and the power of education as a force for good in communities around the world.

In a reference to the design of a collection that features the first letter from the six different alphabets that children learn to write first, Montblanc took guests on a journey to their early memories of learning to write. On arrival inside the Library, they were invited to leave their mark on chalk on a blackboard photo wall and have their picture taken to immortalize the special evening celebrating education. A fun classroom photo booth brought back memories of childhood and the discovery of writing, while reminding guests of the work UNICEF does giving children better access to education around the world.
