You’ve probably heard of the Hoverboard by now, but have you heard of the Hoverbike?
Imagine something between a heavy-duty motorcycle and a drone. A Hoverbike is an all-electric four-rotor vehicle that can easily lift you off the ground. It looks something straight out of a sci-fi movie, to be honest. In the Star Wars universe, a similar vehicle called speeder bikes made an appearance.
Russian company Hoversurf came up with the whole idea. The company showcased the first generation Hoverbikes in 2016 and have released several models since. The Hoverbike S3 2019 is the latest model created using various kinds of carbon fiber technology. The vehicle weighs 114 kg. It is supposedly lighter but more stable compared to the previous aluminum model.
The Hoverbike is powered by a hybrid battery with a capacity of 12.3 kWh, which allows up to 40 minutes of flying time in drone mode. It has a top speed of 40mph on a fully-charged batteries. It can fly up to 5 meters above the ground.
A Hoverbike is priced at $150,000 (yes, you read that right). A deposit of $10,000 is required. Don’t worry buddy, you don’t need a pilot’s license to fly this thing.
